About Mary
Mary Williams is a 2001 graduate of Berklee College of Music with a Bachelors of Music in Film Scoring. After graduation she worked as a film composer in New York City. She moved to Atlanta in 2003 and taught General Music and Applied Piano Lessons at The Lovett School from 2003 to 2007. In the summer of 2007, Mary opened her home studio in the Lake Claire neighborhood. After working a two year term as president, she is now in charge of publications for
Atlanta Music Teachers Association, is additionally a member of North Deklab Music Teachers Association, is the Secretary for
Georgia Music Teachers Association and a member of
National Music Teachers Association. In addition to teaching, Mary adjudicates local piano festivals and competitions, and gives lectures on teaching, and running an effective piano studio.
In an effort to continue her education as piano teacher and provide top-knotch instruction for her students, Mary regularly attends conferences and lectures all over Georgia and the United States.
Mary Williams also works as a composer, mostly for film and media projects. Her most recent feature-length project was for the film
Zion and His Brother, co-written with Blake Williams, which was showcased at the
Sundance Film Festival in 2009.
The Studio
Mary accepts dedicated students of all ages and abilities. Her studio is located in Lake Claire, a quiet neighborhood of in-town Atlanta. For directions to the studio or to check for availability, please
